Dalberg Global Development Advisors’ report, said that every industry related to the exploitation of oil and gas, mining or the massive tree felling around or inside these natural areas, are seriously threatening our Natural World’s Heritage, declared by UNESCO.
114 from 229 spaces are at risk, and 12 of them are located in the European Union. Among this list we can find the National Park of Doñana, Madeira Laurisilva’s Forest, the National Park of Pirin or the Plitvice Lakes.
These areas must receive the utmost protection, and the factors that put at risk their survival should be frustrated. Nowadays, this protection is completely ineffective, commented the general manager of WWF.
He supports the idea of increasing the value of our Natural World’s Heritage and the countless benefits these heritages provide, by setting up real sustainable alternatives and refusing funding damaging industries for the environment.
